Remington Steele*++ The Leading Purebred Arabian Sporthorse Sire Remington Steele*++ is
the leading purebred Arabian Sporthorse sire both in his own halter and
performance record and in production of registered, high scoring Sport horse
get. Having won championships across the board in both Open Halter and Sport
horse in hand plus multiple performance divisions, Remington Steele* ++ has
sired more than 20 registered Sport horse sons and daughters and currently
has 24 purebreds completing and winning National and Regional Championship,
Top Fives, Top Tens and lots of Sweepstakes money in Endurance, Competitive
trail, Hunter/Jumper and dressage. His Half-Arabian offspring are countless
because of his merit status (“*” asterisk following his name, awarded by
Sporthorse Registry) we are shipping Rem’s semen to mares of almost every
other breed… all around the world. We are selling his sons as herd sires to
farms with other Sporthorse breeds as owners strive to use Arabian blood to
improve the bone density, stamina and endurance in sport horses of all
disciplines. Oxygenation, bone
density, hoof wall strength, impulsion and a willing “get up and go”
attitude… coupled with strong survival instincts and a tractable disposition
are the name of the game for success in the Sporthorse world. These things
constitute true Arabian type along with pretty heads (Some Sporthorse
enthusiasts prefer less dish or a straighter profile so as not to impeded
oxygenation- At Phase II we believe both is possible.) I, Patti Bailey, have
been blessed with many happy memorable, moments with Remington Steele*++
such as watching him win US and Canadian National Top Ten Halter titles with
Mike Neal and come back 12 years later after a full lifetime of performance
in both Show and Sporthorse disciplines at 16 years of age to go Top Ten in
Halter at Scottsdale against 6 year olds! The most meaningful from
Sporthorse competition are two… watching him cross the finish line at Tevis
100-miles-in-one-day ride, 9 months after being a US National Top Ten Halter
Stallion, was a spiritual and emotional high in admiration for what
incredible heart this great stallion carries.
I thought this could not be topped until the following happened. Our
farm, Phase II, is remote and very near where a lady trail runner was killed
by a mountain lion, in 1994; the forest service rangers have coached us on
encountering lions… “Never ride alone and if you see a lion scream and yell,
make a lot of noise, try to intimidate it but DO NOT turn your back or try
to run”. I teach this to my clients when we venture into the
wilderness on horseback. One day at a ride I found myself alone on Remington
face to face with a huge male lion on a plateau above us up the steep accent
we were making! He was only about 12 feet away from our faces, flipping his
tail, pinning his ears and snarling down at us. Remington stopped still. I
tried to yell but I was so terrified I could not make a sound come from my
voice, nor paralyzed with fear, could I take my eyes off the lion long
enough to find my mace can spray I carry for such occasions. Remington took
charge – from the depths of his ancestral being came a primal stallion
scream I have not heard before or since AND he charged the lion striking
repeatedly with both front feet until the lion turned and sauntered down
the trail. Then Remington instinctively did the correct thing, he boldly
followed the lion down the trail until the cat disappeared in the underbrush
and we could trot safely away! A breeding stallion should be able to out produce himself – Remington Steele*++ has been honored at Kentucky Horse Park as the most versatile Arabian in history but we are proud that he has two sons and daughter that now have equaled or even bettered his record. Steele Your Heart who is an Champion Halter, Hunter and Endurance mare and Steele The Show Double National Top Ten Halter, Multi- Championships in Halter and Country English Pleasure, Endurance 50 mile winner and has two Tevis buckles! Steele Fire II just Topped Tenned Tevis 2001 has wins and championships in Halter – open and Sporthorse, dressage, Native Costume, hunter/jumper etc, etc, etc, plus over 1,100 AERC endurance miles including multiple Top Tens… and the beat goes on!
